The Cape of Good Hope

I breathed the air where the two seas meet

Where the perceived worlds old and new connect

The Cape of Good Hope

The pointed deferred dream of my ancestors old

Sores to meet the hope of my future new

I wonder of the people of indigenous past who were the breathing lungs of this land

Disrupters of worldviews present

I wonder if this world is afro and future like I hoped

Where the clouds reach down in benevolence to meet the mountains and ocean in right relationship

I hope for the liberation of this land and people from the domination of things old

Into the hope of renewal

Today I breathed the air where the world connected

And within me flowed my old into new hope

A Good Hope
